On December 16, 2011 at approximately 2:30 a.m. Deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office arrested one suspect and identified two others in reference to vehicle burglaries that were reported in the area of the 1600 Block of Sugarland Terrace, New Iberia.
Shortly after deputies arrived, they were able to locate the suspects who had fled from the area. Following a brief foot pursuit, Deputies apprehended one of the suspects who resisted arrest and struck one of the officers as the officer was attempting to take the suspect into custody.
Deputies have charged Kenyatta Provost, of 707 Myrtis Street New Iberia, with simple burglary 3 counts, resisting by flight, resisting by violence and battery on a law enforcement officer. Provost was then booked into the Iberia Parish Jail. The other two suspects were identified as Tormichael ProvosT, of New Iberia, and Anthony Collins, of New Iberia. Warrants have been issued for the remaining suspects for simple burglary.
