Third arrest made in Jacoby Andrews shooting

A third person has been arrested in connection with the May 26 shooting death of Jacoby Andrews in Abbeville.

Abbeville Police say Deontre Smith, 22, of Abbeville was arrested Wednesday for obstruction of justice. She was booked and later released on a $5,000 bond.

The shooting happened in the 1400 block of South Louisiana Street. Investigators say Andrews was shot multiple times. He was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery, but died from his injuries.

Witnesses say Andrews forced his way into a home while armed with a gun. According to witnesses, Andrews shot while inside the home, and gunfire was returned by people inside the home. Witnesses also reported a second gunman shooting from outside the home. They say Andrews ran out of the home and was later found in a nearby yard.

Donathan Comeaux was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice and possession of a stolen firearm a day after the shooting. Jonathan Comeaux was also arrested for illegal discharge of a firearm. The charge of second degree murder will be sent to the district attorney's office for review.

Police have not released information on why the arrests were made and how they were involved in the shooting.
