A number of agencies including the FBI are working on busting a drug ring targeting pharmacies. Officers said the suspects allegedly traveled from Avoyelles parish to rob Meche's Pharmacy in Duson and Scott Pharmacy.
Twenty-two year old Morgan Brown was caught by police as he was trying to get away.
Officials say he wasn't working alone. His two accomplices attempted to bail him out of the Lafayette Parish Jail the same day, but officers were waiting. They arrested 24 year-old Cavin Hayes and 31 year old Matthew Pierite.
Scott Police Chief, Chad Leger, said "upon bonding them out of jail, officers from both agencies with assistance of the FBI were on stand by waiting. They were both picked up at the time and arrested for the same charges."
The robbers were trying to get their hands on Loratab and Xanax, which officials say are two of the most popular prescription drugs sold on the streets.
Leger said, "that's why these two types of pills were targeted at both pharmacies here. So that they were taking him here and selling them on the streets and hitting as much as they can."
Leger said officers have reason to believe the suspects are tied to similar robberies in other parishes.
The FBI is now part of the investigation because of where they're accused of stashing the drugs.
"Mr. Pierite resides on an Indian reservation in Marksville, it is sovereign nation so the FBI has to get involved, " Leger explained.
Officers said hundreds of prescription drugs were found inside Pierite's home and they expect more to make more arrests.
