What was life like for children living in this region in 1863? The Shadows History Workshop
for children will explore the answer to that question with a slate of activities planned for
Wednesday, June 19 and Thursday, June 20 from 9 to 3 each day. The workshop is open to boys and girls ages 7-11 years of age. With plans for projects ranging from building and racing boats in the Shadows pond to baking hard tack biscuits which were provided to Civil War soldiers, the two days will be filled with fun experiences. Photographs of the participants in historic reproduction clothing will be sent home at the end of the two-day workshop.
An admission fee of $50.00 covers the costs for workshop and supplies for the two-day workshop.
Registration begins May 20, 2013. A limited number of participants will be accepted. Participants will be accepted until all spaces are filled. Send applications with a check to confirm a young person's registration. For additional information or to register, call Catherine Schramm, Shadows Education Curator, at (337) 369-6446.
