METAIRIE, La. (AP) - The Lakeshore branch library, destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, reopens today to the public with a grand opening celebration set for Jan. 7. The rebuilt 7,700-square-foot library in Metairie will house more than 28,000 new items, including books and
reference materials. The new facility replaces the library destroyed in 2005's Hurricane Katrina. The new facility is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass and includes specially-designed areas for adults, teenagers and children.
