The Iberia Performing Arts League (IPAL) announced it's 2014 Summer Youth Musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The show, based on the coat of many colors story in the Bible's book of Genesis, is a musical with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Webber.
IPAL has a long tradition of summer musicals to foster and encourage the talent in the New Iberia's youth.
Vincent P. Barras returns to directing after a break in 2013. This marks his fourth Summer Youth Musical at IPAL. The production crew includes Musical Director Laura L. Blum, choreographer Jenny Reed, and costumer Tiffany Capps.
The cast includes over thirty-five area youth, ranging in ages from ten to eighteen. This actually marks the third time Laura L. Blum has been involved in this particular play. She said, "I've directed it twice before, so it's fun to just be the music director this time. The kids have been wonderful."
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will run at the historic Essanee Theatre in downtown New Iberia. The show will run July 17th through 27th, with Thursday, Friday, and Saturday performances at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 3:00 pm.
Advance tickets are available at Delaunes's Pharmacy, Paul's Flower Shop, or Accentrics on Main Street in New Iberia. Advance sale tickets may also be obtained by calling IPAL at 337-364-6114 or emailing email@example.com. Theatergoers should leave requested date and a return phone number. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. All tickets are $10.
