KATC has teamed up with Home Furniture to provide some hard working students a chance for a better life through education.
Randy Paul, President of Home Furniture, along with President and General Manager of KATC Communication Andrew Shenkan, have teamed up to give South Louisiana Community College it's largest scholarship to date.
"This is very exciting. This is one of the largest scholarships that we've received here at SLCC. A total of 24-thousand dollars. It's going to go such a long way to help our students just achieve and to obtain those degrees that they're trying to reach out to, or to transfer, or just go out into the workforce", says Dr. Jennifer Jackson, SLCC Executive Director.
The scholarships, which will be awarded to both incoming freshmen and returning students to SLCC, are intended to help boost the community of the community college.
Randy Paul says, "Home Furniture feels like education's just a great way to pack back Acadiana for everything they've given us over the years. And we're really proud to team up with SLCC and KATC in this effort".
The application (which can be found clicking here) has just been made available, and already 30 students have signed up.
KATC President Andrew Shenkan says just like those eager students, investing in education is a must.
He says, "I think we're seeing a lot of value going back into the community, because depending on who gets awarded these scholarships, these will be individuals who will be available for work opportunities coming back into the community, benefiting the community."
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, you must:

Must be admitted to any SLCC campus at time of entry
