The Acadiana Coup De Main returns for another year to promote and assist the Boys and Girls Clubs of Acadiana-Opelousas Club on December 8th, at the Evangeline Downs Event Center in Opelousas, LA. This year's benefit concert boasts some of the biggest names in local music today.
This year's lineup includes performances by Leon Chavis, Grammy nominated Geno Delafose, Patrick Henry and the Liberation band, Keith Frank, along with a guest appearance by Chris Ardoin and others.
Creator and organizer of the event; Dustin Cravins, boasts the annual event's significance. "This concert brings together local businesses and some of the hottest bands in Acadiana to raise money and awareness for vital non-profit organizations. All the bands donate their time and one hundred percent of proceeds go to charity. This kind of generosity and effort speaks volumes for the spirit of Acadiana and its people," says Cravins.
This year's beneficiary is the Boys and Girls Club of Acadiana- Opelousas Club. Earlier this year the Opelousas club reached a budget shortfall which forced the club to close its doors; leaving up to 160 children daily without the vital program.
St. Landry parish has a graduation rate that hovers around 70 percent but for those involved the club that rate increases to 100 percent. "That fact alone proves that a program like this can change an entire community one child at a time. There is no worthier cause,' says Cravins.
The benefit concert is from 5:30pm- 11:00pm. Admission is $10. For more information on the 3rd Annual Acadiana Coup De Main please contact Dustin Cravins at 337-594-3137.
