BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries now has both a text address and an iPhone app for making anonymous tips about outdoor-related violations to enforcement agents.
The tip411 program is part of Operation Game Thief, which offers cash rewards for information leading to arrests or convictions.
People can either text "LADWF" and their tip to 847411 or download the free "LADWF Tips" iPhone app from the Apple iTunes store.
CitizenObserver.com runs tip411, which allows anonymous text conversations with agents and allows people to send in photos anonymously. The department says it will monitor tip411 24 hours a day. It already has a 24-hour hotline for Operation Game Thief, at 1-800-442-2511.
Col. Winton Vidrine, head of the enforcement division, says the new program will get younger people to report violations.
