Tuberculosis testing has expanded to include individuals at Truman and Alice Boucher Elementary Schools, according to Lafayette Parish Public Schools Director of Community Collaborations and Partnerships Angela Morrison. She released the information in a press release, and does not say who is being tested. The press release only says individuals. "The additional individuals who will be tested are related to the ongoing investigation of the possible case at Lafayette High School," she said.
The Office of Public Health will conduct the tests. About 200 people at Lafayette High may have been exposed to someone at the school who possibly has TB. Test results for that person are pending. The Office of Public Health will administer approximately 200 tests on Monday and Tuesday, December 17 and 18, Morrison said. "Lafayette Parish School System staff is working with the Louisiana Office of Public Health, Acadiana Region staff to ensure appropriate testing and follow-up. Students, staff and faculty that require testing have been personally contacted," Morrison said. There are NO new suspected cases at this time.
Anyone with questions should call the Office of Public Health at 337-262-5311 or can call their personal doctor or health care provider.
