Terrebonne may privatize meter reading

HOUMA, La. (AP) - Terrebonne Parish probably will outsource reading of gas and electric meter.
The Parish Council voted to do so during a series of committee meetings on Monday night.
The full council will consider the proposal at its 6 p.m. Wednesday meeting.
Parish Manager Al Levron said meter-reading is best done by private contractors.
Terrebonne already contracts-out janitorial, pest control and lawn-maintenance services.
