HOUMA, La. (AP) - The Terrebonne School Board will review the performance of Superintendent Philip Martin at a special meeting Tuesday.
Board President L.P. Bordelon tells The Courier the meeting is required by law to scrutinize the head official's performance.
Each board member will fill out a review sheet, rating Martin's performance on a number of benchmarks.
Bordelon will tally the benchmarks and assign a score. Martin will then be rated either "satisfactory," "needs improvement" or "unsatisfactory."
Martin, who became superintendent in 2009, said this is his third performance review.
Board member Debi Benoit said she expects the performance review to proceed smoothly. She pointed out that the seven veteran members of the board voted in January to extend Martin's contract by two years.
