St. Joseph, La. (AP) - State police arrested the headmaster of a private Tensas Parish school over the weekend on charges of driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle.
Trooper Mark Dennis tells The News-Star officers stopped Jimmy Comeaux (KOH'-moh), headmaster of Tensas Academy, late Saturday night after a traffic violation.
During the stop, Dennis said the trooper suspected Comeaux was intoxicated.
Dennis said Comeaux was booked into Tensas Parish Jail on charges of driving while intoxicated first offense with child endangerment and improper lane usage.
The newspaper reports Comeaux declined comment when he was asked about the incident.
Jay James, president of Tensas Academy's Board of Directors, said he does not believe the arrest would affect Comeaux's employment.
