Temporary Shrimp Season Closes Tuesday at 6:00 P.M.

Shrimp boat crews don't have much time to hit the water, unload, and sell what they've caught. The early shrimping season that was opened last week, closes tomorrow night at 6:00pm.

It's a beautiful day to be on the water, but Fred Wan Egde Jr. and Travis Trahan are not heading out for a pleasure cruise. The Lake Charles based crew is one of thousands of crews now scrambling to react to this impromptu shrimp season.

Fred and Travis say the water being so rough is going to make their fast and furious quest shrimp more difficult and more dangerous, and when the season ends for the time being on Tuesday night, they'll volunteer their vessel and their time to lay booms in Vermillion bay. In short, these sea-faring men have very little time to make a living this year and then protect their livelihood.
