GONZALES, La. (AP) - Gonzales police are investigating a fatal shooting that stemmed from a fight at the Geismar Community Center.
Sgt. Steven Nethken tells The Advocate a 17-year-old girl, 18-year-old boy and an unidentified shooter were involved in a large fight at the community center around 11:45 p.m. Saturday.
Nethken said some of those involved in the fight left the Geismar and drove to Gonzales where they began arguing again, and eventually the shooter pulled out a gun and shot the girl in the left arm and the boy in the chest.
He says Davonne Solomon of LaPlace died at a local hospital. The girl is still in the hospital but is in stable condition.
Police are still looking for the shooter, whose identity has not been released.
