Teenager Arrested Following Shooting in Lafayette

From Lafayette Police: On November 4, 2010, at approximately 9:45 pm, Lafayette Police began investigating a shooting that occurred near the intersection of Sherman Street and Monroe Street. The victim, a 25 year old male of Lafayette, was walking in the area of Monroe Street when he was approached by a young black male. The suspect produced a handgun and demanded the victim's property. The suspect then fired one shot, striking the victim in the leg. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released. The suspect fled the scene.

On November 5, 2010, at approximately 10:00 am, Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department were able to identify the shooter as a 16 year old male of Lafayette. The juvenile suspect was arrested and charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Juvenile Detention Home. The case remains under investigation.
