Teenage Bicyclist Killed In Iberia Parish Crash

A New Iberia teenager is dead after a crash involving a bicycle. State troopers responded to the crash about 9:15 pm Saturday on LA Highway 182 west of Jeanerette. Troopers say the crash involved a bike, driven by 17 year old Jaquil Provost, and a 2011 Kia Sorento, Driven by 73 year old Harold Racca of New Iberia. Troopers say Provost was heading westbound on Hwy 182, about four feet from the white fog line, when the Racca hit him. The bike did not have any form of lighting at the time of the crash.

Provost was transported to Iberia General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Racca was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
