Teams are forming now for the 1st Annual Clay Shootout at the G.O.L. Shooting Range in Maurice on Saturday, May 24.
The inaugural event is a fundraiser for the Scott Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD). Even Scott's Police Department is supporting the cause.
"I am trying to assist Chief Chad Sonnier and the SVFD with this fundraiser to support their daily operations," said Scott Police Chief Chad Leger.
"Our volunteer fire department is one of the best in the parish as well as the surrounding areas. With the leadership of Chief Sonnier and the dedication of 42 great men and women, the SVFD is the only fire department in this region that maintains a Class 3 rating which helps every home owner and business with a very generous deduction of their yearly insurance premiums. These great men and women do not ask for anything but for the best possible equipment and technology to better serve the people of Scott and the unincorporated areas around us," said Leger.
The police chief said that he appreciates SVFD, not simply as the police chief, but also as a Scott resident.
"Speaking as a citizen and taxpayer we are very lucky and honored to have these great men and women provide the service and protection that they do each and every day and not get paid for it," said the chief.
