Thursday was the last day of school for teachers at N.P. Moss Middle School.
Because of poor test scores, the school will be closed down and turned into the David Thibodaux Career and Technical Highschool.
Faculty spent the day packing their belongings and saying goodbye as they left campus for the last time.
Basma Jackson has worked at the middle school since she moved from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
She says spending the day packing and saying goodbye is heartbreaking.
"It's sad because this is the first school i came to after Katrina so it sort of feels like I'm losing a home, like something else has been ripped underneath me," said Jackson.
