LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A tenured teacher who sued the Lafayette Parish School Board accusing it of violating teacher tenure law has won a small victory. Christopher Jude Fero was granted a temporary restraining order against the school board, which bars the board from holding a termination hearing, at least for now.
A termination hearing was set for Wednesday, but is now postponed. Fero sued the school board and Lafayette Middle School principal Monique Magee in August in hopes of getting his job back. He claimed that his pay was docked without notice and he was replaced without a tenure hearing. Officials say Fero was suspended from Lafayette Middle School for allegedly discussing and distributing inappropriate material to his students.
