A Eunice teacher accused last year of sexting a student will be arraigned next month in district court.
Jacqueline Fruge will appear before Judge Ellis Daigle on November 14 to enter a plea on a felony obscenity charge. Prosecutors upgraded the charge in June after Fruge's attorney argued that her original charge, misdemeanor sexual conduct between a teacher and a student, did not apply. The defense claimed that the law under which Fruge was initially charged does not have a provision for text messages between a student and a teacher.
Fruge was arrested in December after she allegedly sent partially nude pictures of herself to a student. Fruge resigned after the pictures, allegedly of her in her underwear, surfaced on social media sites.
