A woman is arrested for felony theft, after the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation Hammond Field Office received a complaint from a Tangipahoa Parish based business owner. Investigators say they received the complaint in May, that an employee illegally obtained monies through a fraudulent check cashing scheme.
Investigators say 70-year-old Barbara W. Dantone of Robert was a bookkeeper. In February 2014, investigators say the business became aware of several discrepancies in the businesses' tax returns and bank accounts.
LSP Detectives gathered evidence through investigative techniques and an arrest warrant for Dantone was issued by the 21st Judicial District Court. Dantone was arrested and booked at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail in Amite for felony theft of over $125,700.00 in US currency, over 254 counts of forgery, and 254 counts of bank fraud.
