Swine Flu vaccinations are now available for Acadiana residents.

Lourdes Family Clinic in Scott is one of the first giving out the vaccinations.

The shots are for those six months to twenty-six years old.

Normally the clinic sees 600 patients a month, but in September that number jumped to 900.

The extra traffic was caused by people wanting the regular flu shot.

But with theH1N1 vaccine, so far the supply is limited.

An Associated Press poll taken earlier this month, showed a third of the nation is hesitant to take the swine flu shot.

Doctor Susan Miedecke says some people shouldn't hesitate to get the shot.

If you're going to be around someone who has a lower immune system, if they're having cancer treatment are something like that, Dr. Miedecke suggest that you get the shot.

As repetitive as it may seem, doctors continue to say the best defense against spreading the flu is wash your hands and cough into your sleeve.

KATC has partnered with Lourdes in our yearlong "Living Right" campaign.

November 7th we will be giving out seasonal flu shots for $20.00 at academy sports on Ambassador Caffery from 10:30 to 1:30.

Shots will be given out on a first come first serve basis.

The supply is limited.
