Sweepstakes Scam Reported to Sheriff's Office

The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a possible sweepstakes scam. Deputies say they have received reports of people getting phone calls saying they had just won a large jackpot. The callers were then told someone would arrive at their homes with a check that would have to be cashed to claim the money. Deputies say the calls appear to be coming from outside the United States. If you think you may have been targeted by this scam, call your local law enforcement agency.
