THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - Two days after the Thibodaux Police
Department bought 11 new SUVs, someone slashed 34 of the tires on
the Chevrolet Tahoes.
Chief Scott Silverii tells The Daily Comet he had planned to add
the vehicles to the fleet by the middle of this week - replacing
some of the department's Ford Crown Victorias, which are no longer
made. He says the vandalism early Thursday will delay that.
Investigators were analyzing fingerprints and other evidence.
The SUVs were parked in an area without any surveillance cameras,
but police were going through video from other parts of the lot.
Silverii says some of the cruisers in Thibodaux's 34-car fleet
have more than 100,000 miles on them.
