The search is on for a man accused of breaking into a Carencro trailer last night.
The suspect, 22-year-old Desmond Faulk, was allegedly caught inside by the homeowner.
The homeowner, who asked to remain anonymous, says Faulk is his cousin. He says when he confronted Faulk, Faulk fired several shots at the back door. The homeowner says Faulk wasn't able to get out because the door was nailed shut.
According to Captain Kip Judice, some of those bullets struck a neighboring home.
"The trailer next to the victim's was unoccupied. However, there were several people walking around the trailer park at the time the gun was being fired," Judice said.
Judice says the sheriff's office has charged Faulk with one count of aggravated burglary, and one count of aggravated criminal damage to property because bullets hit a neighboring trailer.
"Aggravated burglary is anywhere from one to thirty years in prison, if convicted. The second charge carries a sentence of one to fifteen years and a $10,000 fine if convicted," Judice said.
Deputies ask that if you have any information on Faulk's whereabouts to cal Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS, or 911.
