Police are asking for the public's help with locating an alleged attempted murder suspect.
On Monday, at 12:30 a.m., Lafayette Police officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 6100 Block of Johnston Street. According to police, the suspect stabbed the victim during an altercation. It was reported that the victim of the stabbing had left and gone to a local hospital for care, according to Cpl. Paul Mouton.
Witnesses reported to officers that a fight had occurred and the victim was stabbed twice during the altercation. During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect as 29-year-old Jermaine Pete, of Scott.
Police say a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Pete for Attempted Second Degree Murder.
The victim was treated and released.
Detectives are encouraging anyone with information on the whereabouts of Pete to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
