Suspect in LSU slayings surrenders

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The shooting suspect indicted last week in the 2007 slayings of two LSU graduate students has surrendered to LSU police.
In a news release, police say 23-year-old Casey Jermaine Gathers was arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on two counts of second-degree murder. Gathers was accompanied by his attorney Monday when he surrendered.
Gathers and 22-year-old Michael Jermaine Lewis were charged July 21 in the killings of Kiran Kumar Allam and Chandrasekhar Reddy Komma, both of India, on Dec. 13, 2007.
Gathers, Lewis and Devin Jamell Parker were booked in May 2008 in the killings of the LSU graduate students, but only Parker was indicted four months later.
State District Judge Richard Anderson signed arrest warrants July 21 for Gathers and Lewis, who was already in jail.
