HAMMOND, La. (AP) - Police have arrested a suspected bank robber in Ponchatoula less than 12 hours after he allegedly walked into First Guaranty Bank in Hammond Saturday and passed a note to a teller.
Hammond police tell The Advocate 51-year-old Edmond Nunez, of Ponchatoula, was arrested in a joint operation by officers with the Hammond and Ponchatoula police departments shortly before midnight Saturday on counts of first-degree robbery.
Police released a photo and description of the suspect Saturday shortly after he walked into the bank just before noon and passed a note to a teller demanding money.
Police said the note also said he had a gun, but no gun was ever displayed during the robbery.
It was unclear whether Nunez has an attorney.
