Suspect Identified in New Iberia Child Shooting

The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office has issued a warrant has for the man who allegedly shot a six-year-old New Iberia boy. Akeam Daniels faces charges of aggravated second-degree battery, illegal discharge of a weapon, and simple criminal damage to property.
Investigators say the shooting took place around 6:30 Monday night in the 600 block of Robertson Street. Witnesses told detectives the shooting was accidental, but Daniels fled the scene before police arrived. Officials say the victim is recovering in a Baton Rouge hospital.
