Suspect booked in 2012 bar slaying

FRANKLIN, La. (AP) - A suspect has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a Franklin man, whose family had hired billboard space to keep the case in the public eye for nearly a year.

Authorities tell The Advertiser 20-year-old Wendell Hines was arrested Tuesday without incident at his home in Four Corners. He was booked with second-degree murder.

Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office detectives said they believe Hines shot 23-year-old Harold Defils at Mon Amis Tavern in Grand Marais on July 22, 2012.

Another victim was wounded by gunfire in incident that began with an argument inside the nightclub and escalated in the parking lot.
