Suspect Arrested in Armed Robbery

On December 15, 2010, at approximately 7:30 pm, Lafayette Police responded to 4311 Moss Street regarding an armed robbery. The clerk at the Dollar General reported that a suspect entered the store with a handgun and demanded the money in the register. An undisclosed amount of cash was turned over to the suspect and the suspect fled on foot.The suspect was located by responding officers in the immediate area and taken into custody. The suspect, Jeremiah Paul Smith (18) of Breaux Bridge was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, Resisting an Officer, Carrying a Concealed Firearm and Possession of a Stolen Firearm. The case remains under investigation.
