From VPSO: The Vermilion / Municipal Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant Wednesday November 3rd which yielded the seizure of marijuana and suspected drug proceed money.
The Task Force had been receiving information in reference to suspected marijuana being sold from 1711 Fairmont St in Abbeville by one Cody Zenon (dob 3-19-82) who resides at the above mentioned address. After obtaining a search warrant for the premises agents traveled to the location in question. Once gaining entry into the house agents mirandized several suspects inside of the residence and explained the reason for them being there. Zenon was located traveling back to the residence and brought back for questioning. Agents seized suspected marijuana from each party's room inside of the residence and also located several ounces of suspected marijuana being hidden in a tree in the back yard of the residence. Agents advise that this is not an uncommon thing to see these days due to drug dealers learning new techniques on how to beat the system. Agents further state that the suspected drug dealers feel if the drugs are not found on them then they cannot be charged with a crime. This could be no further from the truth stated Sheriff Couvillon. "The investigation does not consist of only one aspect, in this case the suspected drugs", Sheriff Couvillon says. An investigation consists of information gathered before the warrants are ever obtained. Evidence such as surveillance and intelligence gathering on the parties you are looking in to, and also witnesses and hard evidence that ties the suspects into the illegal activity". Agents were also able to seize three thousand seven hundred nine dollars ($3,709.00) of suspected drug proceed money from Zenon in the investigation. Zenon was charged with Possession with intent to Distribute Marijuana. Total bond was set at $7500.00. Other arrests are expected stemming from this investigation at a later time.
