A man accused of fatally shooting a Lake Charles pastor during church services has pleaded not guilty, according to the District Attorney's Office. Woodrow Karey Jr. is accused of shooting pastor Ronald Harris in Tabernacle of Praise Worship Center on Sept. 27, 2013.
Karey is facing a second-degree murder charge; initially he was indicted on manslaughter, but it was upgraded after a second grand jury appearance.
Authorities say there was a relationship between Karey's wife and Harris, but did not say whether it was consensual. A trial date has been set for September 15, 2014.
