Winn-Dixie and Bi-Lo are recalling packs of ground beef because of possible E. coli contamination.
The problem was discovered through routine monitoring by food safety and inspection service which confirmed a positive result of E. coli.
Winn-Dixie and Bi-Lo announced the recall thursday as a part of a larger ground beef recall, issued by The National Beef Packing Company. The grocer is immediately recalling the affected "fresh 93% lean ground beef" from all stores in Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi. The product was shipped to stores around July 18th.
Both markets have not received reports of any related illnesses.
