After the intense rains yesterday, the town of Sunset experienced problems with their water system. Now the town has been placed under a boil advisory until the water can be tested.

Sunset's Mayor, Cecil Lavergne, says that after the storm, a water well motor burned out, possibly because it was struck by lightening. The well service was switched to another working well, but around 4 A.M. January 11th, that motor was also not operating. The Sunset Utility Department was finally able to get the motor running again around 9 A.M. The problem was due to a high amperage which caused the motor to switch off.

The town will let KATC know when the boil water advisory is lifted.
