A 34-year-old Sunset man has been arrested for allegedly beating a woman in her home.
The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena says Edward James Moton was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail facing charges of second degree battery, false imprisonment, simple criminal damage to property and resisting an officer.
Captain Vizena stated, On April 15 dispatchers received a complaint regarding a female woman that had been beaten in her home. Once deputies arrived at her residence, they were led in a foot pursuit with Moton. Authorities say Moton was successfully taken into custody with no incident."
"After questioning the victim and witnesses, it was learned that Moton physically beat the female victim when she asked him to leave her residence. Once Moton left her residence, the victim was able to call for help. At this time Moton returned to her residence and that is when he was apprehended by deputies." Vizena added.
Moton is currently being held at the St. Landry Parish Jail with a $40,000 bond.
