Sunset population 2,832 is getting a new Town Hall after more than 40 years in a building they've outgrown. The mayor and staff offices are currently in the old Bank of Sunset building.

The new facility is 2,200 square feet with offices for the Mayor and town employees. It also has conference rooms. Town Hall meetings will be held in the Civic Center, being built about 100 yards away from the new Town Hall.

Mayor Cecil LaVergne tells KATC they've raised about $335,000 for the new facility. They sold the current building and secured grants to get a new one. Leaders will take bids on Wednesday at 2:00pm.

Town leaders and state officials will break ground on the new site off Marie Street and Boudreaux Street on September 24.
