The design team for new Cajun Coast Welcome Center in Morgan City thinks the building can be salvaged, according to Cajun Coast Visitors & Convention Bureau Executive Director Carrie Stansbury. They're considering if it's structurally sound and weighing repair costs. "No definite decisions have been made on whether it will be salvaged or replaced completely," said Stansbury.
In June, a painter discovered a crack in the sheetrock and advised the construction supervisor. The facility sunk about five feet under the building footprint.
