The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office responded to an early morning fatality around 2:45 a.m. Sunday, April 27. When deputies arrived, they discovered Jeremy W. Duplechin, 33, of Lake Charles, with life threatening injuries. Duplechin was traveling westbound on W. Lincoln Road, and drove through a stop sign at Big Lake Road. His vehicle then struck the entrance gate and hit the cement barriers in the driveway of LNG where the car came to a stop on its roof.
Duplechin was wearing a seatbelt, and had to be extricated from the car by the Lake Charles Fire Dept. He was transported to an area hospital where he later died as a result of the injuries.
Early investigation shows Duplechin, allegedly was speeding and failed to stop at a stop sign.
A toxicology report will be conducted as the investigation is ongoing.
