Acting Up (in Acadiana), the resident professional theatre company at the Acadiana Center for the Arts announces that registration for The Summer Youth Shakespeare Ensemble's twelfth season begins March 5, 2014. The 15-day intensive performing arts camp runs July 6-20 and 24-26, 2014 with performances of Taming of the Shrew on July 18, 19, 20, 25 & 26, 2014; all activities take place at the Acadiana Center for the Arts. Students ages 10-Senior in high school play all of the roles in this rollicking comedy.
Students study all aspects of the performing arts with professional faculty members and an extensive support staff. Faculty and staff include Hector LaSala, set design; Chad Trahan, costume design; Amy Waguespack, acting and directing, and numerous members of Acting Up (in Acadiana). Each day begins with an hour long company class followed by small group workshops where students study in age and experience based groups. Afternoons are spent applying what they have learned in their workshops to their full production of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew.
