Even though many are heading back to school this week and next, summer is still on the weather calendar. Temperatures are expected to run in the low to mid 90s through the weekend and most of next week. Yesterday a midday storm helped to keep the temperature below 95 again, Lafayette hit 91 officially.
There will be a few afternoon storms popping up again around the region. But heat and humidity will be the big story as well as how consistent the forecast will be. No big weather systems are expected to move near the area.
The tropics remain quiet over the Atlantic basin, but the Pacific is still rather active. Iselle is now a tropical storm making landfall on the Big Island of Hawaii. Hurricane Julio is still pushing toward Hawaii and may move close to the islands over the next couple of days.
