On December 3, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a home on Topsy Road in Moss Bluff in reference to a burglary.
According to deputies the victim returned home and discovered her home had been burglarized and several pieces of jewelry were stolen.
After further investigation, detectives arrested Roy Woodard, 41, of Moss Bluff, in connection with the alleged burglary and theft.
According to authorities when questioned by detectives, Woodard, who was already incarcerated in the Calcasieu Correctional Center for unrelated charges, confirmed he burglarized the victim's home and stole the items.
He is charged with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling; and theft under $500.
Judge Ron Ware set his bond at $16,000.
