A substitute teacher at Carencro High School has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a student. 21 year old Dayne Leger (left) was arrested Thursday by the Lafayette Police Department, charged with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
Police say earlier this week a 16-year-old girl at Carencro High admitted to an improper relationship with Leger. The student told an on-campus officer that she and Leger had engaged in sexual intercourse in the city of Lafayette on August 5th.
Administrators at Carencro High School declined comment Friday, but according to a spokesperson for the Lafayette Parish School System, Leger had undergone the usual fingerprinting and background check given to substitutes.
Leger is also a firefighter for the Lafayette Parish Fire Department. He is on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. He has resigned from his position at Carencro High School, and has been released from jail on $40,000 bond.
