Friday morning, Southern University will host their graduation ceremony Friday. The Southern University Police Department is issuing instructions for traffic arriving on the Baton Rouge campus.
The department encourages everyone to arrive at least an hour early. Traffic entering the campus on Harding Boulevard will be directed into the Activity Center's general parking area. Once that lot is filled, motorists will be directed to continue west on Harding to the parking lot adjacent to Seymour Gymnasium, and the lots on Harding at Bethune and Washington Halls. When those lots are filled, traffic will be directed to the parking lot at the Smith-Brown Memorial Union and along E.C. Harrison Drive. CATS' buses will transport those persons parked in the away lots to the Activity Center.
Traffic entering the campus from Swan Avenue will not be allowed to park in the Activity Center parking lot. They will be sent to the first lot on the left past the Activity Center lot. Once that lot is filled, vehicles will be sent to the east side parking lot of A.W. Mumford Stadium. When that lot is filled, traffic on Swan will be directed to parking lots along Isabel Herson Street. CATS buses will transport those persons to the Activity Center and back to their parking areas after graduation.
Vehicles with handicapped license plates or hang tags should enter the campus on Harding Boulevard and enter the Activity Center parking lot and head toward Hines Baseball Field. The first entrance on the left is for Handicapped parking only. In front of the "Blue Zone" is an elevator for easy access into the Activity Center.
The graduation ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. at the F.G. Clark Activity Center.
