MONROE, La. (AP) - A feasibility study will begin this month as officials in Monroe consider construction of a new arena.
Mayor Jamie Mayo says the study would be conducted by an architectural firm and would take about 90 days to complete.
In November, the Monroe City Council approved the $95,000 contract with M3A Architecture, based in Jackson, Miss., to allow the consulting firm to begin work on the study.
M3A Architecture is expected to conduct a study to determine the feasibility for the city of Monroe to construct a new arena with the possibility of a four-star hotel near it.
After the $35 million Monroe Regional Airport terminal project was completed, Mayo said the new arena became one of the top priorities for the city.
