Students at Acadian Middle evacuated for a short time

Students at Acadian Middle School were evacuated for about 20 minutes while firefighters checked out a piece of kitchen equipment that malfunctioned. Workers noticed smoke coming from the equipment around 9:30, and firefighters showed up within three minutes, Assistant Principal Denise Lotief said. She isn't sure what equipment malfunctioned, but there was no actual fire.
