The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries State Wildlife Veterinarian confirms 33 birds found dead in Duson died from strong winds. Dr. James LaCour
said necropsy results show the birds had organ fractures and massive internal hemorrhaging "consistent with a big wind event." A resident found the birds on Tuesday, Jan. 15. They are all various black bird species, including red-winged blackbirds, grackles, and brown-headed cowbird.
