LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Desperado's Cabaret owner James Panos, who has been charged with allowing drug activity on the premises of the Carencro strip club, is set to stand trial March 25 in federal court.
U.S. District Judge Elizabeth Foote is assigned to hear the case in Lafayette.
The 54-year-old Panos, of Broussard, pleaded not guilty in January to a federal charge of conspiracy to maintain a drug-involved premises.
He was arrested and charged as part of a Dec. 5 federal raid on the strip club.
Panos' attorney, Scott Iles of Lafayette, said Panos had no direct knowledge of the illegal activity.
Panos, who was not at the club during the raid, is the only person facing federal charges in the case.
