Driving through Breaux Bridge is no easy task these days with continuous work underway on some of the city's main roads.
The improvements are forcing many drivers to detour around Bridge St.
Business owners there say they are losing money during the important holiday season.
A street full of rocks is a reminder of the last month on Bridge St.
Work to fix the once dilapidated road in Breaux Bridge started the week after thanksgiving, and by the looks of it there's little left to do.
Repairing roads ranks high on most people's list of "things to improve."
But at what cost?
The last month has been a headache for anyone trying to travel from, to, or through Breaux Bridge.
Bridge street is home to some of the city's major traffic, but because of road work it's now become a road less traveled.
"If you cant park you can't get through the city then obviously they can't stop or eat any food or basically just be in town," says burger shop owner Tanya Angelle.
Her shop is right in the middle of Bridge Street.
She says the road work, while needed, should have been better planned.
Some days the road as open, others days with out notice, closed.
